Bearing a Selfless Heart: A Journey of Faith, Love and Service
Life has a way of bringing us to our knees, sometimes in ways we never could have imagined. For our family, one of the most pivotal moments came when our son faced a life-threatening condition that required open-heart surgery. It was a time of fear, uncertainty, and, above all, deep reliance on God’s grace. Yet, it was also a time of profound revelation—both about the vulnerability of life and the unshakeable love of Christ that holds us through every storm. Through this experience, God placed a powerful burden on our hearts: to serve other families walking similar paths.
As Christians, we believe that the love of Christ compels us to serve others, especially in times of pain and need. This led us to establish Bearing a Selfless Heart, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families facing health crises with acts of kindness and prayer.
Introducing the 2025 Initiative: Lots of Knots—A Ministry of Prayer and Service
We’re excited to introduce our 2025 initiative—Lots of Knots, where each knot tied represents a prayer for a child or family in need. Inspired by our own experience of being lifted in prayer, this initiative invites you to be part of a collective effort to provide comfort, hope, and encouragement to families facing medical challenges. Through this project, we hope to create blankets—each one filled with prayers and love.
How You Can Get Involved
There are two simple ways you can participate in Lots of Knots:
Donate Blankets: Gather your group—whether it’s a church, school, or community group—and create blankets. Each knot tied in these blankets will represent a prayer for a family in need. It’s a tangible way to teach children, teens, women, and seniors about the power of prayer and selfless service.
Sponsor a Blanket: If you can’t make a blanket yourself, you can sponsor one. Your financial support helps provide the materials needed to create blankets, which will be assembled by our volunteers. Each blanket will be prayed over and delivered to families in crisis, offering them comfort and the assurance that they are not alone. Click here to donate.
A Ministry for All Ages
We’ve developed a ministry lesson that works for every age group to help make Lots of Knots accessible to everyone:
Children’s Ministry: Kids will learn the importance of prayer while tying knots for others. It’s a fun and engaging way to help them understand how they can serve and make a difference.
Teens Ministry: Teens will be encouraged to lead by example, praying for others and helping assemble blankets as a community.
Women’s Ministry: Women will connect in fellowship, sharing stories and lifting each other up through prayer and the act of tying knots.
Senior’s Ministry: Seniors will be reminded of their legacy of prayer, tying knots as a way to pass on faith and hope to younger generations.
Why We Need You
Whether you’re donating, sponsoring, or volunteering, your involvement in Lots of Knots is a way to show Christ’s love in action. Every knot, every prayer, and every blanket represents hope and healing for families who need it most. As the Apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 12:25-26, “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it.” Together, we can support those who are suffering, rejoicing in the opportunity to serve and share God’s love.
